Dear Coffee Lovers,
Three things stood out to me at The London Coffee Festival this week:
- Cold coffee, concentrates, matcha, and functional beverages are moving into the center of innovation
- Coffee is increasingly becoming part of lifestyle, culture, and experience and not just consumption
- AI, automation, and intelligent systems are quietly becoming the operational backbone of the industry
During my keynote on “How AI, Automation, and Infrastructure are Reshaping Coffee Businesses at Scale” I shared one core observation:
Coffee is increasingly becoming a systems business. What became very visible in London: The industry is evolving beyond traditional espresso culture: Cold brew, RTD, Customization, Matcha, Functional beverages and Integrated machine ecosystems.
The boundaries between coffee, wellness, hospitality, and lifestyle are starting to blur. At the same time, operational pressure on the industry has never been higher: volatility, labour shortages, complexity and margin pressure.
This is where AI and automation become strategic. Most AI value happens before the consumer ever sees the coffee cup: forecasting, supply chain,
pricing, CRM and operational execution.
Coffee has never been more emotional. But it has also never been more technological. The strongest future players will combine: great coffee, strong brands, consumer experience and intelligent infrastructure.
London once again showed why it remains one of the most dynamic coffee cities in the world.
Thanks to everyone I met at The London Coffee Festival and to all those shaping what’s next in our industry.
More conversations. More insights. And more love for coffee worldwide.
